Description
This fragrant and colorful Muscari ‘Mount Hood’ blooms in mid-spring and can grow in the sun or partial shade. The spires are a brilliant shade of blue with white tips that appear like a snowy mountain top, hence the name.
Its smooth-textured, green foliage looks attractive even when the Muscari ‘Mount Hood’ is not in bloom. This variety grows fast and functions well as a garden accent, lawn edge or potted plant. It especially thrives and looks attractive under a tree or bush. Other varieties, particularly late-spring perennials, complement the colors even in colder months. Mixing this bold, two-tone Muscari ‘Mount Hood’ with daffodils or tulips makes for a sweet-smelling garden rainbow.
At full growth, the Muscari ‘Mount Hood’ bloom is only 6 to 8 inches tall, but the vibrant colors are hard to miss. Resilient in many different areas, this variety is easy to maintain and is resistant to deer and rodents. The water requirements are average and over-watering should be avoided. The bulbs should be planted 4 to 6 inches apart.
